Global mergers and international remedies
Alexandre Cordeiro Macedo
Chapter 18 in Research Handbook on Global Merger Control, 2023, pp 427-436 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Merger review is undoubtedly crucial in reaching a healthy economic and competitive environment. In a globalized world, international cooperation can help antitrust agencies obtain the best results for providing innovation and consumer wellbeing. This chapter aims to discuss some global mergers analysed by CADE, while also promoting a reflection on how multijurisdictional cooperation can be implemented to ensure timely and effective decisions, overcoming the major challenges of jointly assessing global mergers from different jurisdictions.
