Chapter 21 in A Modern Guide to Tourism Economics, 2022, pp 364-382 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The ultimate stance of financial economics is to channel the flow and the distribution of funds (capital) by strategically aligning the scarce resources and by controlling the risk under uncertain conditions. In especially recent years, an increasing uncertainty, frequent catastrophes from perils of shocks, and clashes to growing imbalances in global economy are putting global economies at risk and financial danger. Hence, this book chapter comprehensively maps and addresses the core premises, the ecosystem, benefits, risks, and politics of financial economics phenomenon along with the theories involved in this concept for the economic structures. It also discusses crucial aspects of financial economics for the scale-specific investment categories from governments to all stakeholders for the tourism and hospitality industry by putting forward practical understanding, solutions, and policies. This book chapter lastly offers forward looking challenges, criticism, and extensions of the overall financial economics framework.
