Mission research: experiences from participation in OECD entrepreneurship policy research projects
Helen Lawton Smith
Chapter 15 in How to Engage Policy Makers with Your Research, 2022, pp 154-163 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The chapter draws on the author's experience of participating as an expert in several Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) regional research missions. Missions take place against a background of potential weaknesses in policy formulation and delivery (Potter and Lawton Smith, 2019). Their purpose is to inform policy for supporting entrepreneurship and innovation. Using these experiences, the chapter provides reflections, experiences and top tips for conducting mission research and on researching abroad.
