Chapter 17 in Research Handbook on Entrepreneurial Ecosystems, 2024, pp 352-369 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter examines the impact of the entrepreneurial university within broader entrepreneurial ecosystems. We aim to explore the impact and extent of the entrepreneurial university, students, university accelerators and entrepreneurship education against the backdrop of Australia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. We do so by integrating nascent research on the dynamic integration of entrepreneurship imperatives and transformation in developing the entrepreneurial university student entrepreneurship ecosystems at higher education institutions; the strategic intent and practices of university accelerators, university accelerators and entrepreneurship education in Australia; and a disruptive model for delivering higher education programmes within the context of entrepreneurship education. We align these themes within the broader research of the dynamic interactions of actors within entrepreneurial ecosystems in Australia. Our contribution to this body of knowledge highlights the importance of the entrepreneurial university and associated components in developing robust and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems.
