Chapter 23 in Research Handbook on Entrepreneurial Ecosystems, 2024, pp 468-477 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter examines a concept that is gaining popularity: the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Starting from the model proposed by Brown and Mason (2017) and adding elements specific to various regional economies, we demonstrate how sustainable ecosystems can be developed and which elements of entrepreneurial ecosystems are most prominent. We also highlight the role of informal institutions in ecosystems that may challenge their sustainability, such as unproductive or political entrepreneurship, corruption and a culture of collectivism. The ultimate purpose of this chapter is to understand which configurations could increase the sustainability of ecosystems
