Culture and industrial development
David Emanuel Andersson
Chapter A.VII.7 in Thematic Encyclopedia of Regional Science, 2025, pp 120-121 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter defines culture as shared and durable values. It then proceeds to discuss how culture affects and is affected by industrial development, and how long periods of cultural stability are interrupted by cultural changes that reflect broader societal restructuring. It also considers attempts to analyze cultural change and industrial development at the level of sub-national regions.
