Chapter 4 in Handbook of Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights, 2024, pp 48-61 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The global process of strengthening and harmonizing intellectual property rights (IPRs) systems has been intensified in the last three decades by the signing of preferential trade agreements (PTAs) that include chapters with intellectual property (IP) provisions and other trade-related issues. In this chapter, we review a series of issues revolving around trade, PTAs, and IPRs. We start with a brief description of stylized facts and then discuss the existing literature, the gaps, and the research opportunities.
