Chapter 101 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Mergers and Acquisitions, 2026, pp 263-265 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter introduces an ecosystem perspective on acquisitions, expanding beyond the traditional acquirer-target dyad to include multiple stakeholders like suppliers, customers, and regulators. It presents a layered system of interrelated actors with varied proximities and influences, proposing this perspective as a holistic view that considers not only market and financial effects but also coopetitive and symbiotic relationships that shape acquisition outcomes.
