Abstract: Cross-border mergers and acquisitions are a key mechanism for international diversification and growth, driven by access to new markets, technologies and market share. As a form of foreign direct investment (FDI), they involve inward or outward transactions. FDI trends show three peaks since 2000, with activity affected by economic events and uneven post-pandemic recovery across regions.
