Abstract: Chapter 9 offers a summary of the major contributions of the book in light of the analyses throughout the book and demonstrates the merits of the approach we have taken to the analyses of value distribution with reference to the findings. We place the study contributions in the context of the broader debate on value distribution in GVCs and its impact on economic development and equality, and outline contributions to societal commitments to these goals. We conclude by presenting directions for future research that follow from our study to draw its theoretical boundaries and broad validity beyond the apparel GVC and its focus on Bangladesh. We also outline directions for the development of the interdependence logic as a mechanism for value distribution among GVC participants.
