Poverty measurement and stochastic dominance

Chapter 8 in Research Handbook on Measuring Poverty and Deprivation, 2023, pp 82-94 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this chapter, we provide an updated review of the literature on poverty orderings. Our review focuses more on the new research advanced in the twenty-first century. The research further consolidates the relationship between poverty orderings and stochastic dominance and affirms the important role that stochastic dominance plays in poverty measurement.
