Using guest speakers and day trips to teach sports economics

Aju Fenn

Chapter 6 in Teaching Sports Economics and Using Sports to Teach Economics, 2022, pp 94-102 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Field trips are not just for middle schoolers anymore. Most departments at Colorado College have at least one class where students go on field trips. A class with carefully planned field trips allows the instructor to get more out of their students because students feel a sense of gratitude to be part of a special experience. This chapter will lay out the details of using field trips in a Sports Economics elective. The lessons may be extended to other classes in economics.
