Science, entrepreneurship, and spin-off diversity

Deepa Scarr√â€

Chapter 5 in Developments in Entrepreneurial Finance and Technology, 2022, pp 82-89 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: A wide body of studies explores the topic of academic entrepreneurship, with researchers considering different perspectives and investigating several dimensions. However, despite the recognized heterogeneity of academic spin-offs, studies that explore spin-off diversity are still lacking. Spin-offs from different fields of science have different characteristics and needs: this chapter aims to discuss this issue, connecting different theoretical approaches and providing a set of variables to investigate spin-offs diversity.
