Australian Sports Technologies Network: adding value through creating synergies

James Demetriou, Martin Schlegel and Danny Samson

Chapter 13 in Clusters of Innovation in the Age of Disruption, 2022, pp 312-340 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter documents the development of Australia's sports cluster, centered and coordinated around ASTN. We begin with a detailed description of sports technology and its quite recent development as an industry, then trace the development of the ASTN-centered ecosystem and its components. Finally, we consider how, having developed as a domestic cluster, this ecosystem based in Australia, has been incrementally developing regional and global networks and bonds.
