Clusters of Innovation: lessons learned and final thoughts
Jerome S. Engel
Chapter 16 in Clusters of Innovation in the Age of Disruption, 2022, pp 420-430 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Summing up the key lessons learned from the investigations of 21 contributing authors into 11 innovation ecosystems, this chapter both provides guidance and identifies further challenges. Emphasizing the importance of an innovation culture and entrepreneurial behavior, the guidance is inspiring in its scope and aspirations. Much tactical guidance is provided for how to create an actionable agenda for enhancing and supporting COI development. At the same time, ecosystem development is put forward as not a goal to be pursued solely for its own considerable rewards, but also one that can be done in a manner that is cognizant of and contributing positively toward addressing today's global environmental and social challenges.
