Abstract: This chapter explores health leadership in resource-constrained environments and develops further understanding by including the under-heard voice of African communities. It draws on Zimbabwe as a case study to understand a resource-constrained environment and explain how Western medicine and indigenous health systems can combine. It makes recommendations for ethical leadership practice in resource-constrained environments to support this combination. The main purpose of this chapter is to critique how the current literature’s omission of the African community as a health resource constitutes a limitation in understanding the development and integration of all available resources for health leadership. It recognises that formally trained healthcare practitioners contribute to medical and health knowledge and they are increasingly aware of the contributions being made by indigenous health systems and practices towards the well-being of individuals.
