Abstract: The principles of Appropriate Technologies are based on Schumacher's thoughts and world famous book Small is Beautiful: A Study of Economics as if People Mattered from the early 1970s. They have evolved along various paths and have found application in diverse organizations and movements. The proposed concepts have kept their validity until today. More recent publications such as Prahalad's The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid (2005) or the initiatives and publications in the field of frugal innovations contribute significantly to their continued validity in the fight against poverty worldwide.
