Administrative efficiency
.
Chapter 12 in Organization in the Economic Firm, 2021, pp 160-178 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Chapter 12 defines and explores two of Martin Beckmann's organizational efficiency measures: the number of administrators per non-administrative employee, and the hourly administrative cost per non-administrative employee. The relation of these measures to each other, to the number of ranks in the firm (the height of its organizational structure), to its span of control (under appropriate conditions, the thickness of that structure), and to its total cost and to profit maximization is analyzed.
