Chapter 20 in Handbook on Child Poverty and Inequality, 2025, pp 321-347 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter estimates micro-projections of multidimensional child poverty in 48 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, through an internationally comparable index encompassing six dimensions: sanitation, health, water, housing, nutrition, and education. Demographic and Health Surveys (DHSs) have been utilised as the primary data source. The data was aggregated on a hexagonal grid, where each cell covers an average area of 5.16 km2. This dataset encompasses geographical, economic, and demographic information. Finally, the data was compared at Admin 1 level with Multiple Indicators Cluster Surveys (MICS).
