Mega-sporting events and human rights

Daniela Heerdt

Chapter 28 in Teaching Business and Human Rights, 2023, pp 400-412 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter introduces mega-sporting events (MSEs) and human rights as a topic to be taught within business and human rights. More specifically, it discusses how human rights impacts of MSEs illustrate many key business and human rights challenges, such as access to remedy, human rights due diligence, or supply chain management and suggests a range of teaching approaches and ideas for assessment and evaluation for students from business, policy, and law programs. Finally, it provides a list of resources including relevant human rights cases that have come up in the context of MSEs.
