Chapter 3 in Teaching Business and Human Rights, 2023, pp 26-42 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Human rights are the central concern of the subject matter for most business and human rights (BHR) teachers and students. Effective BHR teaching introduces international human rights standards, their definition, and their relevance for business. Key topics for BHR courses include the sources of international human rights standards, the definition of specific human rights in international legal instruments, the human rights responsibilities of different actors under international law, and how human rights standards are enforced. This chapter provides a broad overview for introducing human rights to BHR students who have not studied the topic previously.
