Padmore Adusei Amoah
Chapter 9 in Handbook on Inequality and Social Capital, 2024, pp 117-130 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Social capital is considered vital to the health and well-being of general and specific demographic groups globally. This chapter offers a three-part review of this growing research area, emphasizing how social capital is linked to health-related well-being. The first part presents an overview of research evidence on the role of social capital in health at individual and community levels. The second part is a brief scoping review of research on social capital and health-related well-being (i.e., health outcomes, health inequalities, and well-being). The third part discusses the way forward on social capital and health-related research, policy, and practice.
