Multinational enterprises and global strategies to collaborate with SDG 2 and SDG 3

Abstract: Before the arrival of COVID-19, efforts had been made to contribute to SDG 2 and SDG 3, with various results, as presented in the SDG Index report annually and different outcomes of research developed by universities. The efforts made by the different governments, citizens and world organizations such as the COPs, one of which proposed the Paris Agreement and which has been a tool of efforts to achieve a reduction in the temperature of the earth, is described. However, COVID-19 has generated a profound change in life and companies, weakening the efforts of countries to continue contributing to these SDGs. Many companies had to close and therefore many workers were left without pay, generating a gigantic social impact, with all the impacts on the SDGs. However, at the same time, new ventures have been generated in response to the commercial needs of the new pandemic world and to generate new jobs, managing to fill part of the lack of employment and resources for families. The contribution of the MNEs in the SME survival process and the contribution on SDG 2 and SDG 3 have been reviewed, considering examples and some goals established, detailing what is the role of both in the resilience during COVID-19 pandemic. It remains as learning to understand that the collaborative support between SME and MNEs will allow SMEs to efficiently supply the MNEs, reducing the risks of purchase and supply, allowing economic and social development and with the final impact on SDG 2 and SDG 3.
