Free Movement Agreement
Sara Iglesias Sánchez
Chapter 32 in Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Migration and Asylum Law, 2025, pp 186-191 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In a world compartmentalized by state borders and migration controls, free movement is achieved through international agreements of different nature. The most advanced free movement agreements are often adopted under the auspices of regional international organizations. In spite of the different intensity with which free movement is achieved in the different regional organizations, free movement remains more an objective than a reality in most of them.
