Abstract:
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has a unique mandate to promote and protect all human rights for all people as the custodian of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In line with this mandate, the UN Human Rights Office works to promote, protect, and fulfill the human rights of all migrants, regardless of their status, with a particular focus on migrants in vulnerable situations and those at most risk of human rights violations. During the negotiations of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the UN Human Rights Office was recognized as a key actor, and it is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the UN Network on Migration at global level as well as at regional and country levels.
