Conclusion: Themes from Legal-Economic Performance
.
Chapter 9 in The Legal Foundations of Micro-Institutional Performance, 2022, pp 147-149 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this text, we join the ranks of those that acknowledge that institutions, and more specifically the law, cannot be separated from the study of economics. We wrote this text to provide analysts and students with a set of tools and a language for examining and understanding the legal foundations of the economy. Rather than determine the optimal set of laws or other institutions, we encourage students and analysts to understand the impact of the laws as they exist on economic performance and the distribution of income, wealth and resources. We call this the Legal-Economic Performance framework.
