Chapter 12 in How to Manage International Multidisciplinary Research Projects, 2022, pp 162-174 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
PRO-RES is a European Commission-funded coordinating and support action under Horizon 2020 aiming to PROmote ethics and integrity in non-medical RESearch by building a supported guidance framework for all non-medical sciences and humanities disciplines, and by adopting social science methodologies. The case study describes how the members of a multinational multidisciplinary team worked together to produce a framework to guide the decisions of policymakers and their advisors who are seeking evidence from research that has been conducted ethically, responsibly and with integrity. The main challenge facing the consortium was how to cover all non-medical sciences, as well as all ‘evidence-gathering organisations' that can influence policymaking. The authors explain how they managed the process of building a team of experts from different disciplines and European countries, selecting and implementing communication and coordinating strategies and engaging with the wide range of stakeholders who would be using the framework.
