Exchanging prevention practices on polydrug use among youth in criminal justice systems (EPPIC)

Abstract: The EPPIC project was funded by the European Commission's Health Programme (2014-2020), Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency, from January 2017 to February 2020. It was led by researchers at Middlesex University, UK, and included partners from six EU member states. The project aimed to foster knowledge exchange and to identify principles of good practice on interventions to prevent illicit drug use among young people (aged 14-25) in touch with the criminal justice system. The case study discusses the process of conducting a cross-national multidisciplinary project, some of the challenges arising over the course of the work and how they were addressed: for example by balancing and maintaining team relationships, and timely completion of tasks. A key output was an open access handbook of ten quality standards, in English, German, Italian and Polish. Other main outputs included national and cross-national reports and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
