Online teaching techniques to enhance application and analysis

.

Chapter 3 in Teaching Online Classes, 2024, pp 63-103 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter presents a range of online teaching techniques aimed at enhancing learners’ability to apply and analyze new knowledge. The techniques discussed include methods such as barriers and enhancers, biomimicry, crop it, digital storytelling, and many more. These techniques help learners place new material in different contexts and analyze it from various perspectives, promoting deeper learning by encouraging the creation of new connections, challenging existing ideas, and applying abstract thinking. While primarily focusing on learner-to-content interaction, many of these techniques can also be utilized in small group settings to stimulate the social aspect of learning. The chapter emphasizes the importance of these techniques in fostering deeper understanding and facilitating changes in learners’ perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors, thereby promoting a more comprehensive and engaged learning experience.
