Abstract:
This chapter provides a general review of studies linking carbon emission regulations to economic growth. Topics covered include incentives for the development and exploitation of renewable energy, the different types of regulatory instruments, the effective design and calibration of carbon taxes, the economic impact of environmental policies and their effects on electricity prices. Finally, avenues for future research on the complex relationship between environmental policies and economic growth are offered.
