Introduction to the Handbook of Qualitative Research Methods for Information Systems
Robert M. Davison
Chapter 1 in Handbook of Qualitative Research Methods for Information Systems, 2023, pp 1-8 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this introductory chapter to the handbook, I explain the rationale for compiling the handbook, and then provide a chapter-by chapter summary of the contents. The handbook contains 22 chapters, including this introduction and a conclusion. The remaining twenty substantive chapters are organised in four sections: ‘how to do qualitative IS research’, ‘methodological advances in qualitative IS research’, ‘theoretical aspects of qualitative IS research’, and ‘future directions for qualitative IS research’. Leading researchers in the domain of information systems who undertake qualitative research are the contributing authors.
