Chapter 17 in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and the COVID-19 Response, 2022, pp 394-402 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Three important topics are explored in this final chapter of the volume. A few past crises with significant adverse impacts, including the global financial crisis of 2007-2009, AIDs/HIV, Ebola, N1H1Virus and SARS are briefly reviewed; and the need for learning their significant lessons and are highlighted. Advantages and implications of a few selective chapters are highlighted. A suggestion and a model for establishing a global institution to represent and defend the interest of iSMEs globally, especially in crisis-like conditions, to be patterned after the voluntary organization of Medcine San Frontiers (NSF) is proposed and briefly discussed.
