Introduction to the Research Handbook on Sport and COVID-19
Paul M. Pedersen
Chapter 1 in Research Handbook on Sport and COVID-19, 2022, pp 1-7 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this opening chapter, the editor of the Research Handbook on Sport and COVID-19 provides overviews of the impact of COVID-19 on the sport industry and published work on this subject (e.g., research articles, journal special issues, chapters, books). Next, Paul M. Pedersen presents the layout for the handbook. The following 33 chapters - authored by 92 contributors from 22 countries - are situated within six sections covering the following areas: sport management, sport communication, sport marketing, sport events, sport stakeholders, and sport sociology. Thus, this chapter introduces readers to the topic while also providing an overview of the handbook's sections and chapters.
