Conversation with Sonja Sackmann

.

Chapter 10 in Key Questions and Inspiring Answers in Cross-Cultural Management, 2024, pp 209-223 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter features an interview with Sonja Sackmann, a woman pioneer in the field of cross-cultural management (CCM) research. It delves into Sonja Sackmann’s biography, her motivations and aspirations for conducting CCM research, her career as well as her outlook on the future of CCM research. It also sheds light on Sonja Sackmann’s most important academic contributions to the field of CCM, which are her research on multiple cultures and people as carriers of multiple cultures, organizational culture, as well as on culture as context and its dynamic and complexity. Through this exploration, a deeper understanding of the biographies, key concepts, and revolutionary paths of the women pioneers of CCM is fostered, and important interrelationships and implications of biography and research are revealed. Both researchers and practitioners will find it informative. The interview style of the chapter allows the pioneers to express their ideas in their own voice.
