Setting the scene
.
Chapter 3 in Globalisation, Policy and Shipping, 2022, pp 22-31 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter sets the scene for the discussion to follow on globalisation, policy and shipping and in particular the relationship between national and global shipping policies. The major issues that affect shipping and globalisation and how they are inter-related are discussed. These issues are placed within the context of the EU and its attempts to generate shipping policies that reflect its agenda for a Single European Market. The broader importance of neo-Fordism and post-Fordism are discussed with examples from the maritime sector.
