Qualitative social research

Theodoros Iosifides

Chapter 33 in Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Research Methods in the Social Sciences, 2026, pp 237-243 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: In this entry, my main aim is to develop some of my thoughts and give some insights about qualitative research, necessarily partial and incomplete, which derive mainly from my specific theoretical background and from my research experience during the last 25 years. Thus, the entry includes some insights as regards to what qualitative research is and how it can be conceptualized along with crucial dimensions of qualitative methods applications, data analysis and some new contemporary developments in qualitative social research.
