Abstract: The free movement of services are an integral part of the EEA internal market. Alongside the freedom of establishment, which must be seen in tandem; the two play a significant role in ensuring the coherence of the internal market when the core of the EU’s basic freedoms have been extended to likeminded third states, forming the special partnership of the EEA. Given that ever-more of the European economy becomes services-based, the important of the freedom to both provide as well as receive services on a cross-border basis cannot be understated. This chapter examines how the free movement of services has played out within the EFTA pillar of the EEA, accounting for the various developments, including those from the EFTA Surveillance Authority and the EFTA Court.
