Fur farming
Kimberly C. Moore
Chapter 41 in Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Animal Law, 2025, pp 158-160 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The farming of animal fur raises serious animal welfare concerns. Fur farming also results in environmental degradation and it raises the risk of zoonotic disease transmission. For these reasons, a growing number of countries are banning fur farming, and at least one country has banned the sale of animal fur products for fashion. In the US, one state and a handful of local jurisdictions have banned the sale of animal fur products within their jurisdictions.
