Overview of Zimbabwean animal law
Yvonne Gurira
Chapter 86 in Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Animal Law, 2025, pp 332-334 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Despite existing animal legislation in Zimbabwe, such as the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, the Animal Health Act, and the Scientific Experiments on Animals Act, there are significant gaps that render animal protection ineffective. Amendments to the current laws are necessary, along with practical solutions, to enhance legal protection and reduce the suffering of animals.
