Professional ethics for animal lawyers
Russ Mead
Chapter 91 in Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Animal Law, 2025, pp 348-351 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Society has always regulated lawyers. Each jurisdiction is free to draft its own rules of professional responsibility. Even though these regulations differ from place to place, the rules often follow common themes. These common areas include diligence, competence, conflicts of interest, civility, and undue influence. A particular area of concern for animal lawyers is remembering that codes of professional conduct apply even when volunteering to help animals.
