Cooperative arrangements to develop economies of scope

.

Chapter 8 in The Entrepreneurial Solution to Poverty and the Science of What is Possible, 2022, pp 130-150 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Entrepreneurs' best odds of finding a promising venture opportunity are found within their personal consideration sets. One of the advantages of working with someone else with a separate consideration set is that they can be combined to generate savings through economies of scope. This chapter explores how the use of formal or informal cooperative arrangements, which are the default mechanisms that the poor use to interact with those outside their community, can be leveraged to generate economies of scope in searching for venture ideas.
