Abstract:
This chapter shall first provide insights on the importance of integrity, including a definition of match-fixing and betting fraud as well as a summary of match-fixing cases in the history of esports. Second, the chapter will cover steps taken by relevant esports stakeholders to prevent or at least punish match-fixing. In addition, individual national legislation, and its applicability to esports shall be discussed. Third, it shall be shown which steps would be required to further safeguard esports integrity. Any discussions in this chapter will often refer to classical sports as learnings and principles from sports are in a lot of cases easily applicable to esports.
