Abstract: The first section of this chapter will focus on doping, examining the three potential ‘models’ of doping governance in esports, assessing how Esports Integrity CommissionEsports Integrity Commission’s esports specific doping regulations compare to those of the International Esports Federation (the latter of which adhere closely to the 2021 World Anti-Doping Authority’s Model Rules for International Federations), and considering what criminal liability an esports player found guilty of an anti-doping rule violation might face. The second section of this chapter will look at hardware and software cheatingcheating, providing an overview of various kinds of ‘popular’ cheatscheats, and bring together the various reasoned sanctioning decisions that have been published to date. The final section of this chapter will take a brief look forward at what the future may hold for the regulation of doping and other illicit performance-enhancing practices in esports.
