Chapter Chapter 14 in Esports Law and Practice, 2025, pp 309-351 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The chapter provides an overview of the way in which the dispute resolution system in traditional sports has been developed, why it is important for esports to do the same and whether its best practices and over30 years of experience may be taken as a model and inspiration for those who attempt to construct a similar mechanism to resolve disputes in esports. This chapter will further address various types of disputes classified according to their nature. Specific bodies and entities that deal with dispute resolution in esports will also be analysed. Finally, the future of dispute resolution in esports will also be discussed in the final section.
