Money manager capitalism: still here, but not quite as expected

.

Chapter 19 in Reforming Capitalism for the Common Good, 2022, pp 256-262 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter demonstrates - in the wake of the collapse of the Internet-driven economic boom of the late 1990s - that Hyman Minsky's core insights about money manager capitalism remain relevant, despite several unexpected developments (including nearly a decade of technology-driven growth, which Barry Bluestone and Bennett Harrison attribute to public investments made prior to the era of money managers).
