Economic policy for the real world
.
Chapter 21 in Reforming Capitalism for the Common Good, 2022, pp 284-290 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter offers a snapshot of economic challenges facing workers and their families in the wake of the Great Recession, emphasizing that the underlying problem is what Wallace Peterson called a "silent depression" - the accompanying "flip side" of the rise of Hyman Minsky's money manager capitalism. The chapter also outlines a reform-oriented economic policy agenda, stressing the importance that Minsky placed on constructive public action.
