Abstract: This chapter explores Immanuel Kant's complex relationship between theoretical and practical reason, concentrating on its relation to the concepts of sovereignty and law. The author argues that, for Kant, sovereignty is not an ontological entity but an “epistemological stopper” that enables the treatment of law and politics as forms of knowledge.
