Air transport governance in Canada

Abstract: Canada's aeropolitical system is completely unique. Commercial air transport rights and policies have evolved in recent years, yet continue to be influenced by global events and policy directions. The governance of its major airports, meanwhile, predominantly stands alone. A brief assessment of both policy spheres is provided, including the role and function of the Canadian federal government. This chapter questions whether there is a policy imperative to make changes to existing structures and parameters of air transport governance in Canada.
