Chapter 11 in Reflexive Urban Governance, 2025, pp 207-228 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter concludes the edited volume on reflexivity in urban governance. The editors summarise and further critically discuss and elaborate on the insights gained from the chapters of this book regarding the triggers of reflexivity (others, events, spaces, methods and tools, and attitudes). They identify relationships, directions, and interplays between these triggers and, from there, generate an integrated understanding of reflexivity in urban governance. They argue for the need for continuous reflexivity, yet see how reflexivity in urban governance is bounded in a threefold way: bounded in people, in places, and in time. They bring the insights from the chapters together as building blocks and stepping stones for creating a reflexive practice in urban governance.
