Chapter 8 in Cases on Corporate Entrepreneurship in North America, 2025, pp 73-86 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This case explores the dilemma of a new employee of Amazon who felt pressure to reveal certain details of the operations of her former employer, Trader Joe’s. In addition, the case reveals information about Amazon's practices in seeking information about the marketing practices of third-party companies that operate on their platform. A discussion about the intervention of the Federal Trade Commission in 2023 charging Amazon with operating an illegal monopoly is also included. The question in the case is what a new employee of Amazon can do if she is troubled by the tasks she is asked to undertake.
